Launched June 2026.Technology should be accessible to everyone. Technoactivism refurbishes donated computers, installs modern software, and provides these devices free of charge to people who need a reliable computer for everyday tasks. Together, we reduce electronic waste, bridge the digital divide, and help our community stay connected.
IMPACT
Access to technology affects nearly every part of modern life. Job applications, healthcare portals, educational resources, government services, banking, and communication increasingly require reliable access to a computer. Yet many individuals and families cannot afford a new device, while thousands of capable computers are discarded each year simply because they can no longer run the latest operating system.
Our Refurbished Computers Program addresses both challenges. By restoring older computers that can’t run Microsoft Windows 10 — and through leveraging ChromeOS Flex, a free, secure, modern operating system — and providing them to community members at no cost, we reduce electronic waste while expanding access to essential technology. Each computer distributed represents a person who can apply for jobs, attend classes, access services, stay connected with loved ones, and participate more fully in modern society.
At the same time, the program creates opportunities for volunteers to share their technical skills for the public good. Together, we transform unused technology into practical tools that support digital inclusion, community resilience, and environmental stewardship.
Key metrics will include;
1. Computers Distributed. The ultimate output of the program. A refurbished computer sitting on a shelf creates no impact. A computer in someone's home does.
2. People Served. Focuses on human outcomes rather than hardware. This reinforces that the mission is helping people, not repairing machines.
3. Pounds of E-Waste Diverted. Shows environmental stewardship and is attractive to donors, grant-makers, and community partners.
4. Volunteer Hours Donated. Captures the community-service aspect of Technoactivism and demonstrates volunteer engagement.
5. Estimated Community Value Created. Converts the program's impact into a dollar figure that funders readily understand.
