Launched June 2026.

The Community Privacy Project delivers quarterly workshops that help individuals understand and navigate modern surveillance, data collection, and digital privacy risks. Participants learn practical strategies for protecting personal information, communicating safely, safeguarding location data, and reducing vulnerability in both online and real-world environments.

What the Project’s All About

The Community Privacy Project is a public education initiative that equips individuals and communities with practical knowledge about privacy, surveillance, and digital safety. Through a combination of interactive workshops, community lectures, and hands-on training sessions led by volunteer Technoactivists, participants learn how modern technologies collect information, track behavior, and influence personal security.

Topics include surveillance awareness, location privacy, safe communication practices, activist and protest safety, and understanding the growing ecosystem of data collection.

Designed for delivery through nonprofits, community organizations, libraries, schools, and public events, the program extends digital literacy beyond basic technology skills and into personal empowerment. By helping participants make informed decisions about their privacy and security, the Community Privacy Project strengthens individual resilience, supports vulnerable populations, and fosters more informed, self-determined communities.

IMPACT

Privacy is increasingly a matter of personal safety, economic security, and civic participation. Yet many people never received practical education about how surveillance, data collection, and digital tracking affect their daily lives.

The Community Privacy Project helps close that gap by delivering accessible, community-based privacy education through workshops, lectures, and hands-on training. Participants leave with a better understanding of how to protect their personal information, communicate more safely, and make informed decisions about the technologies they use. By bringing these programs directly to community organizations and underserved populations, we help build a more informed, resilient, and empowered public.

  4. Volunteer hours contributed by Technoactivists

  5. Participant knowledge and confidence gains

Technology shapes nearly every aspect of modern life, but understanding how it affects our privacy shouldn’t be limited to experts.

Through the Community Privacy Project, Technoactivism helps transform complex topics into practical knowledge that people can use immediately. By empowering individuals to make informed choices about their data, communications, and personal safety, we help build stronger communities where people can participate, organize, and thrive with greater confidence and autonomy.
