Our Story

Hey.

My name’s Russell Mickler. I work as a Tech Consultant, and I’ve over 30 years in the industry.

But throughout those decades, the most impactful moments weren’t found in boardrooms — they were found in the stories of people the industry left behind.

I’ve met teens trapped in the cycle of cyber-addiction and cyber-bullying; survivors of domestic abuse living in the shadow of digital stalking; elderly couples devastated by identity theft.

I’ve seen activists risking everything to evade police surveillance, and I’ve met nonprofits struggling with outdated, insecure networks because they couldn’t afford commercial IT services.

As a professional serving small businesses, I didn’t have a place to send them, but I realized something powerful: I have a few hours a week to give. And I’m willing to bet that other tech professionals — especially those navigating an industry shifted by AI and automation — are in the same boat.

The digital landscape is growing more hostile. A single ransomware attack can cripple a community service; a single instance of sextortion can push a family to the brink. The need for expert protection has never been more urgent, yet it has never been less accessible to those who need it most.

Now is the time. I founded Technoactivism to bridge this gap. We are a collective of experienced tech professionals dedicating our "extra hours" to shielding the vulnerable and empowering the organizations that serve them. We believe that privacy is a human right and that technology should be a tool for liberation, not a weapon for exploitation.

Join us. Whether you need help or have the skills to give it, we are building a more secure, empowered, and transparent world — one hour, one click at a time. Thanks for stopping by.
